A luxury eco-lodge is becoming the go-to destination for high-stressed entertainers.

A newly-opened luxury wellness retreat in Samburu is quickly becoming the preferred destination for Kenya's celebrities and high-net-worth individuals seeking respite from the constant demands of social media and public life.

Finding Peace in the Wilderness

The eco-lodge, located on a 5,000-acre private conservancy, offers limited accommodations with strict no-phone policies during specified hours. Guests participate in meditation sessions, yoga classes, wildlife encounters, and traditional Samburu cultural experiences.

Several celebrities have already visited and posted glowing reviews of their experiences. One actress wrote: "For the first time in five years, I went 48 hours without checking my phone. I felt alive again. This place is magic."

"We're not trying to run a resort. We're trying to create a sanctuary. A place where people can remember who they are before fame, before the algorithms, before the pressure," said the retreat's founder, a former investment banker.

The retreat charges Ksh 400,000 per night and is booked solid for the next four months. The founder is considering opening a second location in Coastal Kenya due to demand.

Wellness industry analysts predict this could spark a trend of premium detox retreats across Kenya, potentially creating a new Ksh 5 billion wellness tourism segment.
